Devon Ashtanga Yoga Retreat: 14 - 17 May 2026
Escape to tranquility with our three-night yoga retreat set on the serene banks of the Tamar River in Devon, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This immersive retreat invites you to reconnect with nature, unwind your mind, and revitalise your body. Surrounded by lush countryside, peaceful waters, and birdsong, you’ll enjoy daily yoga sessions, nourishing meals, and soul-soothing moments in one of the UK’s most beautiful hidden corners.
Location
We’ll be staying at Rumleigh Farm, a peaceful riverside haven nestled in the heart of the Tamar Valley, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Surrounded by rolling hills, ancient woodland, and rich mining history, the area is steeped in natural beauty and cultural significance. The farm itself is a lovingly restored hideaway, offering cosy accommodation, tranquil gardens, and breathtaking views of the Tamar River. With its blend of serenity and heritage, Rumleigh Farm provides the perfect setting to slow down, reconnect, and immerse yourself in the timeless charm of Devon’s landscape.
On the banks of the Tamar, nature unfolds in quiet, breathtaking moments. You may spot a variety of wetland birds nesting and feeding along the river’s edge, and if you're lucky, catch the bright flash of a kingfisher darting through the air. The gentle flow of the river also invites deeper connection—wild swimming and canoeing are both permitted for those who feel drawn to the water. Whether you're floating in stillness or watching wildlife from the shore, the river offers a peaceful rhythm that complements the retreat’s calm, restorative energy.
Leisure time
During free time, we can make the most of the beautiful surroundings by taking peaceful trips along the River Tamar, soaking in the tranquil views and fresh air. There is also the option for walks on Dartmoor, where the wide open landscapes, ancient tors, and ever-changing skies offer the perfect escape and a deep connection with nature.
YOGA
We will have 3 morning classes and 2 afternoon workshops.
Afternoon workshops will be an opportunity to explore techniques together; they are fun and interactive but will always be grounded through chanting & pranayama.
All yoga classes & workshops will be taught by Claire Berghorst, a senior Ashtanga yoga teacher who has been teaching on a full time basis for over 17 years, and practising much longer!
